As the final stage of MCA Accreditation for its specialist heliyachting training programs, HeliRiviera welcomed Captain Roger Towner to its premises for a formal inspection.
Captain Roger Towner is the Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen at Maritime and Coastguard Agency. His LinkedIn profile describes him as a ‘Master Mariner with more than 40 years experience as a seafarer and as a Regulator influencing policy on seafarers qualifications and issue of certification.’
As a result of having reviewed the people and processes at HeliRiviera’s office by Cannes Mandelieu airport, Captain Towner presented the MCA Accreditation to Catherine Pardini, HeliRiviera’s managing director.
Catherine said: “It was a great pleasure to meet Captain Towner. His previous role at the MCA was ‘Chief Examiner and Head of Seafarer Training and Certification’. Therefore we feel doubly honoured that we passed his inspection and were given the formal MCA Certificate.’
HeliRiviera have two MCA Approved training courses: onboard Helicopter Operations safety procedures, and a shore-based Helicopter Firefighting course. Both courses are available by emailing HeliRiviera or through Bluewater Yachting of Antibes. Bluewater’s Director of Training – John Wyborn – was also present during Captain Towner’s visit.
Jonathan Mutch, a qualified helicopter pilot who spent 11 years as a navy pilot followed by 5 years’ superyacht operations experience, is the Senior Instructor at HeliRiviera. Speaking about the recent MCA accreditation, Mutch said: “I’m delighted that our training programs have received this highest level of approval. We can now offer training to LYC3 and Commercial Yacht standards, and provide crew with certification that bears the prestigious MCA accreditation. MCA is recognised as a world leader in marine safety standards.”
