Captain Malcolm Jacotine of M/Y Global was recently interviewed by Superyacht Owner about helicopter training.
The captain is a Master Mariner with a merchant navy and business background who has been involved in the superyacht industry since 1989. This is when he took command of his first yacht, a Swan 57 sailing yacht owned by Computacenter PLC who he had been working for. He created from scratch and ran their highly profitable Computer Aided Design (CAD) division.
As Captain Jacotine says in the Superyacht Owner article: ““Prior to the start of our helicopter operations, the crew received MCA approved Helicopter Landing Officer [HLO] and Helideck Deck Assistant [HDA] training which took place on M/Y Global.” Captain Jacotine continues: “Conducting the training on board had a number of benefits: a good number of crew were trained without the disruption of manning and the training could be tailored to our set up and equipment.”
The yachting experience and insight comes from his time in Command and the wide variety of yachts he has worked on. From the Swan to a 160+ metre motor yacht. This experience encompasses all aspects. From the quality and delivery of the onboard experience and all that entails, to the full spectrum of yacht management and vessel operations.
HeliRiviera has been responsible for the helideck training on board M/Y Global.
